... My eyes were opened to the power of Christ — I learned so much.
How did your program at Å·²©ÍøÖ· prepare you for your career?
I'm one of those people who believes that their degree plays an integral role in their career. The courses that I took as a communication studies major helped immensely as I started working at a large company leading communication programs immediately after graduation. Specifically, I love how Å·²©ÍøÖ·'s communication studies department offered courses in organizational communication, which I believe to be the most important course I took during my time there. As a woman who has begun to make her way in the corporate industry, I owe a lot of what I came in knowing about organizational culture, interpersonal communications, and leadership to my education at Å·²©ÍøÖ·.
What did you appreciate most about your time at Å·²©ÍøÖ·?
I loved attending Å·²©ÍøÖ· because there were a lot of opportunities for leadership - I was one of the founders of the Adventure Club, was hired in the advancement office and was an SOS leader. I also appreciated the community so much because it was something that I was missing at the school I attended prior to transferring to Å·²©ÍøÖ·.
How did Å·²©ÍøÖ· equip you to be a more faithful follower of Jesus Christ?
When I attended Å·²©ÍøÖ· it was the first time that I had ever done a deep dive into the Word. By doing this, my eyes were opened to the power of Christ - I learned so much. Being around so many other like-minded individuals also was a huge encouragement in my faith.
What advice would you give to students considering your degree program?
Do not take the broadness of this degree program for granted - there are so many ways that you can use your communication studies degree after graduation!
